BUDDY CABS LAUNCHES CABS FOR DIFFERENTLY-ABLED & ELDERLY COMMUTERS
The Voice of Canada News:
Sartaj Lamba CEO and founder of Buddy cabs explain her vision and mission, Buddy cabs is an initiative to empower the more vulnerable section of society to live a more fulfilling life by providing them with mobility that is safe and reliable and do this with a SEVA Bhav.
The drivers of these cabs are also caring who themselves are Ex-Servicemen. The elderly in the Tricity are entitled to the best care and the most important is medical care. These caregivers take pride and joy in caring for the elderly, taking them to hospitals and even help them in doing their daily chores. BUDDY CABS is a one-stop solution for their needs.
Buddy Cabs has initiated a new project for transporting commuters who have limited mobility because they are wheelchair-bound. They feel dependent on their family and friends to get from one part of the city to another and of course commuting in public transport is out of the question since it is far from accessible. Buddy Cabs have come up with an innovative solution to tide over this problem.
We have customized the front seats of cars to facilitate easy mobility of the needy.
Buddy Cabs provide a car and driver for the complete duration of the requirement, starting with a minimum of 2 hours. The driver and cab is at the disposal of the client for the duration of the journey.
They have a vehicle that is accessible for differently-abled and elderly commuters and is equipped with a state-of-the-art wired remote control-operated hydraulic lift. This will come in handy to comfortably lift the wheelchair-bound passenger and ‘enable’ them to board the cab without any support from a third person.
This is a first in north India and we have already been awarded the best startup for the mobility of differently-abled at prawns 2019 Mumbai by Mr. Nitin Gadkari.
The cabs interiors have been given a special facelift for commuters with mobility challenges such as quadriplegics, paraplegics and senior citizens, to accommodate their wheelchair at the back, along with extra room for three other co-passengers or caregivers, a wheelchair restraint to safely hold the chair during movement, first-aid kit for emergencies, a fire extinguisher and GPS, GPRS which could be tracked on a 24X7 basis. It also has a wheelchair-locking system and special handles, further adding to the comfort of the passenger.
As our endeavour is mobility, our R and D team based at Bangalore, we have customized rotating front seat cars to facilitate easy mobility of the needy.
We are deeply grateful to Mr. Ashish Bhatia COO of Fortis and Mr. Abhijeet Singh Director Fortis Mohali for helping us not only take this initiative forward but also have our drivers and staff trained in life support in Fortis Mohali.
The Buddy wheelchair enabled launch was done by Mr. Ashish Bhatia COO of Fortis, Lt Gen KJ Singh ( retd ) GOC western command, Mr. Harman Sidhu from Arrive Safe.
The event was attended by Maj Gen Satdev Bajaj Retd, Mr. OP Sukhija, Mr. Karan Bhandari, Mrs. Tanu Mehtani, Mrs. Ravinder Sawani, Mr. Abhijeet Singh from Fortis.
We were recently awarded for this Endeavour by Mr. Nitin Gadkari honourable minister for transport and highways at Parwas Mumbai. This is the first of its kind initiative in India and the first wheelchair enabled commercial vehicles and customized vehicles in Northern India.
“These specially designed cabs enables the people with special needs to commute across the city with or without caregivers, giving them the freedom to travel independently,” Sartaj Lamba owner of Buddy Cabs says.
