Ceasefire Shattered: Pakistan Fires at Indian Posts Just Hours After Truce
The Voice of Canada-The Voice of Chandigarh News:
In a shocking turn of events, peace along the Line of Control didn’t last long. Just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a U.S.-mediated ceasefire, Pakistani troops opened unprovoked fire on Indian positions in Jammu and Kashmir.
The firing reportedly took place in two sensitive areas — Uri in Baramulla district and Gurez in Bandipora district. According to Indian security sources, Pakistani forces targeted both civilian and army posts without any warning, violating the freshly signed truce.
The ceasefire had raised hopes for de-escalation after weeks of rising tensions and cross-border attacks. But the sudden shelling has brought back fears of another round of conflict.
Indian forces responded to the firing, and high-level security meetings were immediately held to assess the situation. Officials described the act as a “clear betrayal” and “a direct threat to regional peace.”
The situation remains tense along the border, and further updates are expected as the Indian Army keeps a close watch on developments.
