Chandigarh Hit by Massive Cyber Fraud: Victims Lose Over ₹3.78 Crore

Chandigarh Hit by Massive Cyber Fraud: Victims Lose Over ₹3.78 Crore

The Cyber Crime Police Station in Sector 17, Chandigarh, has registered two major cases of online fraud involving substantial financial losses.

In the first case, an FIR (No. 26) has been lodged based on a complaint from Dalip Singh Bajwa, a resident of Sector 2/A, Chandigarh. Bajwa alleged that an unidentified fraudster deceived him through a digital arrest scam, resulting in a staggering loss of ₹3.41 crore. The case has been registered under sections 308, 319(2), 318(4), 336(3), 338, 340(2), and 61(2) of the BNS, and an investigation is currently underway.

In another cyber fraud case, Balraj Singh, a resident of Sector 36/C, Chandigarh, filed a complaint stating that he was duped of ₹36.76 lakh by an unknown person. As a result, an FIR has been registered under sections 319(2), 318(4), 338, 336(3), 340(2), and 61(2) of the BNS at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Sector 17.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious while conducting financial transactions online and to report any suspicious activities immediately. Further investigations into both cases are in progress.
