Chandigarh Successfully Concludes 100-Day Intensified TB Campaign on World TB Day

The ambitious 100-day Intensified TB Campaign, launched on 7 December by Chief Secretary UT Chandigarh, concluded in Chandigarh on World TB Day, 24 March 2025. The campaign primarily focused on case-finding among Chandigarh’s vulnerable and high-risk population. Around 1.2 lakh population was screened, around 20000 X-rays were done using the latest technology and new cases were identified and initiated on treatment. During the campaign.

Worthy Governor Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh also became a Ni-kshay Mitra under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan of NTEP and has graciously agreed to provide nutritional support to the TB patients in the city. His dedication towards this flagship program of the Government of India has strengthened UT’s commitment towards a TB-Free Chandigarh as well. The campaign was carried out successfully under the dynamic leadership of Health Secretary Ajay Chagti, who was at the forefront of every activity. He provided regular guidance and impeccable support throughout the campaign.

The UT was awarded for its exemplary performance during the campaign, especially “Nikshay Poshan Yojna” on World TB Day Celebration at Vigyan Bhawan at New Delhi. The award was bestowed on the UT by Honourable Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. It was received by Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health Services cum MD NHM on behalf of the UT administration. It was a concerted team effort from the highest office in Chandigarh to the frontline level worker, all of whom put in extra effort into making this campaign a roaring success.
