Social Gathering Limits and Physical Distancing
All social gatherings and organized public events in Brampton and across Peel Region remain at 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors where physical distancing can be maintained.
In order to reduce the risk of COVID-19, Peel Public Health recommends reducing contact with others and keeping gatherings small, and shrinking social circle to immediate households or essential caregivers. This Thanksgiving weekend, Peel Public Health recommends limiting celebrations to your immediate household.
For individuals who live alone and choose to have contact with people outside their immediate household, Peel Public Health encourages limiting gathering numbers, decreasing time together, practising physical distancing, wearing masks and washing hands. If unwell, gather virtually instead of in-person, get tested and self-isolate at home.
Under the Brampton COVID-19 Emergency Measures By-law, individuals not adhering to physical distancing regulation can be fined a minimum of $500 and maximum of up to $100,000 for each offence.
Municipal regulations under the by-law state:
• Every person shall maintain at least a 2.0 metre distance from every other person when on public property, except persons who reside together in the same premises
• No business shall permit any person to be seated or to be standing inside or outside the business at a distance of less than 2.0 metres from every other person, except persons who reside together in the same premises or the employees of the business.
Residents and businesses can call 311 to report non-compliance.
Mandatory Face Coverings
Under the Mandatory Face Coverings By-law, non-medical masks or face coverings are required in all indoor public spaces in Brampton. Public establishments and businesses are required to ensure that masks or face coverings are worn in indoor public spaces under their control.
The by-law exempts certain individuals, including those who cannot wear a mask or facial covering due to medical reasons; children under the age of two; individuals engaged in an athletic activity in accordance with the Emergency Orders. For more information, visit: www.brampton.ca/masks
