City of Brampton launches second year of successful e-Scooter Pilot Program

Following a successful first year, the City of Brampton is launching the second year of its e-Scooter Pilot Program. Building on the achievements of the inaugural season, this program continues to revolutionize urban mobility and enhance sustainable transportation options for residents and visitors. 

In year two, the City remains committed to creating a comprehensive Active Transportation NetworkBrampton’s Active Transportation Master Plan​ is focused on achieving Brampton’s

2040 Vision to be a mosaic of safe, integrated transportation choices and new modes, contributing to civic sustainability and emphasizing walking, cycling and transit.

The e-scooter program supports mobility and accessibility, addresses transportation equity, provides additional travel options that are sustainable, while placing Brampton at the forefront of the next generation’s shift to new ways of moving and getting around the city.

What’s new for 2024?

  • Up to 900 e-scooters to be placed throughout the city by partners Neuron Mobility, Bird Canada and Scooty Mobility.
  • Hybrid parking model that uses both designated parking and a free-floating parking model. In-app features ensure vehicles are returned to pre-arranged parking areas before a ride can end. 

Key highlights from year one: 

  • 750 e-scooters were placed across the city in partnership with Neuron Mobility, Bird Canada and Scooty Mobility
  • Approximately 200,000 trips taken
  • Approximately 110,000 riders
  • Over 415,000 kilometres travelled
  • Upwards of 6,000 litres of gasoline saved from e-scooter trips, and
  • Approximately 14 tons of carbon emissions saved
