Clever ways to design and disguise your media room
Media rooms are often the most used room in the home. Create a beautiful first impression and avoid interrupting sight lines with these helpful hints:
Clear cord clutter. Hide cables and plugs when possible. Use zip ties to keep cords together, and secure to the back of a cabinet or TV with double-sided tape or hook. Fish wires through small holes cut in drywall (they can easily be patched up later if necessary).
Draw eyes up. Razor-thin TVs can be easily wall-mounted and create the illusion of artwork. Make your TV the focal point of your room by adding to a trendy gallery wall or mounting it above the fireplace.
Contain consoles. Cable or satellite boxes, streaming media players, and gaming consoles can easily add up. Invest in a good quality infrared universal remote and hide devices in a nearby closet or cabinet. Store on wire racks with castors to allow air flow and maneuverability.
