CRPF Observes 59th Valour Day, Honoring Heroes of Sardar Post

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) annually observes ‘Shaurya Diwas’ (Valour Day) on April 9th to honor the unparalleled bravery and sacrifice of its personnel during the 1965 battle at Sardar and Tak Posts in Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch. On that day, two companies of CRPF valiantly repelled an attack by a full-fledged Pakistani military brigade, eliminating 34 Pakistani soldiers and capturing four alive. In this fierce engagement, eight CRPF personnel attained martyrdom. This historic battle is recorded in military history as a unique example of courage and determination, where a modest contingent of a paramilitary force successfully defended against a significantly larger and well-equipped adversary. On Shaurya Diwas, CRPF pays homage to its fallen heroes who have sacrificed their lives for the nation’s internal security, peace, and order, reaffirming its commitment to continue serving the country with dedication and resolve.

In a commemorative event held at the Hallomajra camp in Chandigarh, Inspector General Dinesh Uniyal led the tribute to the martyred heroes. The ceremony included saluting the force’s flag and reiterating CRPF’s motto, ‘Service and Loyalty.’ Gallantry medal recipients were honored during the event, which also featured a Sainik Sammelan (soldiers’ conference), sports competitions, cultural programs, and a communal meal for the force’s members.
