“It is a vicious cycle, you do good, you feel good. Then when you feel good, you want to feel better – so you do even better.” Moreover, he has developed something he calls his AIM – a platform for which he is Active, Inspired and Motivated for – which is in addition to the Progressive Conservative platform and built around Mississauga-Malton. His personal AIM includes policies to address issues such as Youth Empowerment, Education, Community Engagement, Local Employment and so much more. Progressive Conservative Party candidate Deepak Anand defeated NDP’s Nikki Clark and Liberal candidate Amrit Mangat. Anand won the race with 14,712 votes out of 37,590. The riding is in the northeast corner of Mississauga. This riding was created after 2014 Ontario election as a part of a provincial riding redistribution process that saw new ridings created and several existing riding boundaries changed.
Youth unemployment rate is one of the major issues affecting the residents of Malton in particular, which Anand hopes to fix, as this riding has the biggest percentage of youth. Affordable rentals are also the need of the hour by encouraging secondary suites through small interest-free loans and short training courses provided by the government. There was a lack of consultations and town halls when it comes to important issues such as the carbon tax, education, hydro and mental health services and he wants to fix this. He has a fundamental belief that the government needs to work closely with the people for it to run properly and that is also a major part of his AIM.
Deepak Anand joins his new office with an AIM to do good for the community by bringing positive changes in the society.
“The 42nd general election saw a transformation in Ontario’s electoral process thanks to technology in the polls. We are proud that our measured and principled approach to modernization made voting even easier for many electors across the province while maintaining the integrity and security of our elections.” Greg Essensa, Ontario’s Chief Electoral Officer.
