Emotional Wellness during COVID-19
The Voice of Canada News:
As we all know COVID-19 is a serious health threat, and the situation is evolving daily. The risk varies between and within communities, but given the increasing number of cases in Canada, the risk to Canadians is considered high.
As a Director and volunteer members of ICACI, we organized a virtual zoom session on “Emotional Wellness during CIVID 19” to talk about mental health issues and provide on-going support through this difficult time. It was a great conversation with MP Ruby Sahota in attendance and sharing her views with the participants and Federal government initiatives to handle the current pandemic situation. We had two professional speakers Namrta Mohan, a Psychotherapist and Deepa Mahanti a community leader and founder of Myiesha Inc. who shared their views and presentation on the topic. It was an amazing session with a great turnout and active participation. The Voice of Canada was the media partner of the event and has been supporting ICACI ‘s initiatives.
Another initiative by ICACI was a “Food Donation Drive” that was organized to help women, new immigrants, seniors, students and others in need to overcome the pandemic situation. As our Community efforts and responsibility we also personally delivered food items to seniors who are more vulnerable in the community on a regular basis.
We have been organizing regular group chat and virtual meetings with our members, friends and community to help with mental health issues and awareness. Our belief is that we all are in it together and by supporting each other we will get through it.
