IndiGo Cancels Over 165 Flights Amid Rising India-Pakistan Tensions
The Voice of Canada-The Voice of Chandigarh News
In response to escalating geopolitical tensions following Operation Sindoor, IndiGo has announced the cancellation of more than 165 flights to and from several key northern and western Indian airports. The cancellations will remain in effect until 5:29 AM on May 10, 2025.
The affected airports include Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Gwalior, Kishangarh, and Rajkot, all of which are experiencing temporary closures or severe restrictions as part of national security measures.
According to reports, the Indian government has shut down operations at 24 airports in the region as a precautionary step. The Civil Aviation Ministry confirmed the move, citing safety concerns amid increased military activity near the border.
Passengers are strongly advised to verify their flight status before proceeding to the airport. Real-time updates are available on IndiGo’s official website and through their social media channels, particularly @IndiGo6E on X (formerly Twitter).
This sweeping disruption in air travel comes amid a volatile security environment, with increased alert levels across Indian airports and enforcement of secondary screening measures for all passengers.
Travelers are encouraged to allow extra time for security checks and adhere to baggage limitations, as only one hand baggage item (up to 7 kg) is permitted per passenger.
Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
