Jai Bhim Padyatra” Organised by Chandigarh Administration on the Eve of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Birth Anniversary

To mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Chandigarh Administration organized a “Jai Bhim Padyatra” reflecting the spirit of unity, social justice, and constitutional values. The Padyatra commenced from Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan, Sector 37, and concluded at the Sports Complex, Sector 42, Chandigarh.
The event commenced with a solemn floral tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, followed by the collective reading of the Preamble of the Constitution of India. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to the core ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution.
Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary Sports, Chandigarh Administration, flagged off the Padyatra and also administered the oath to all participants, promoting Ambedkar’s vision of an inclusive and equitable society. She was joined by Sorabh Arora, Director Sports, and Mahender Singh, Joint Director Sports, along with officers from the Sports Department, representatives from Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), and members of Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan, Sector 37.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 400 students, including athletes from various sports disciplines, students from the Education Department, and NSS volunteers. The Padyatra not only paid homage to the life and teachings of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar but also aimed to instill a strong sense of constitutional values and social responsibility among the youth.
The event concluded at the Sector 42 Sports Complex with a renewed pledge to uphold Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals and contribute positively to nation-building.
