Make sure your holidays sparkle and shine – remember to keep fire and electrical safety on your mind
Brampton Fire and Emergency Services launches 2020 holiday safety campaign
The Voice of Canada News:
As the holidays approach, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services encourages residents to keep fire and electrical safety top of mind.
Electrical equipment is a leading cause of residential fires in Ontario. To keep you and your loved ones safe this holiday season, follow these fire and electrical safety tips:
• Check cords for damage such as fraying. A damaged cord can expose wires and result in a potential shock or fire hazard.
• Do not run cords under rugs, which can damage the cord and cause a fire.
• Use extension cords for temporary connections only. If permanent wiring is required, have additional outlets installed by a licensed electrician.
• Do not link extension cords together – use an extension cord that is long enough to do the job.
