Asks India to rechristen Andaman-Nicobar Islands after Ghadar patriots

Prof. Mohan Singh Memorial Foundation (Canada) has demanded from the Federal Government of Canada to rectify the criminal record pertaining to Gadar movement martyr Bhai Mewa Singh. In addition, the provincial government of British Columbia should make Sikh history, including the Kamagata Maru and Gadar movement, part of syllabi in schools, colleges and universities.
These resolutions were adopted during the 23rd ‘Mela Gadri Babey’ fair organized at Bear Creek Park, Surrey led by President Sahib Singh Thind. This annual fair was dedicated to 150th centenary of Jallianwala Bagh massacre, in which well known Canadian personalities graced the occasion.
The organizers have also demanded from the British government to apologize from the Sikhs for the oppression and atrocities committed during their reign in India including carnage of Jalliawala Bagh.
In the fourth resolution, the foundation have asked the Indian government to rechristen Islands of the Andaman and Nicobar after the Gadar patriots which had been named after officers of the British Empire besides chapters regarding the contribution of Gadar movement in syllabi of all educational institutions be introduced.
On the occasion, defence minister of Canada Harjeet Singh Sajjan, leader of the opposition and NDP chief Jagmeet Singh, Member Parliament Sukh Dhaliwal and Randeep Singh Sarai and city councilor Jack Hundal also shared their emotional views on Gadri martyrs. The family members of Gadar martyr Balwant Singh Khurdpur hoisted the Gadar party flag.
Punjabi folk dances Bhangra, Giddha and other traditional dances were also performed during the fair. Eminent Punjabi folk artists Mohammed Sadiq, Raj Kakara, Gill Hardeep, Mohsin Shaukat Ali, Surinder Laddi and Kaur Mandeep enthralled the audience. Among others, Kiranpal Grewal, Raj Padda, Amarpreet Gill, Jaspal Thind, Amrit Sandhu, Jagroop Khaira were also present who toiled very hard to make the fair successful. Prof. Gurwinder Singh Dhaliwal and Manjeet Kaur Kang performed the duties of Stage Secretary.
