MP Sahota’s Main Priorities: Families – Like Yours
The Voice of Canada News:
Brampton, Ontario – Ruby Sahota, the re-elected Member of Parliament for Brampton North, reconfirms that her top priority is helping Canadian families provide the best start in life for their children. That’s why the Liberal Government in 2015 launched the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), a program that provides more money to nine out of ten Canadian families.
Last week, Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, announced that under the CCB, parents now have more money to help with the high costs of raising their kids, including more than 1.3 million families in Ontario who received nearly $9 billion from the CCB in the 2018–19 benefit year.
A two-parent family in Brampton with two children aged 4 and 9 and an income of $55,000 will receive an additional $354 tax-free this benefit year. That means more money for families every year to help pay for things such as healthy food, sports programs or music lessons.
“As a mother, I know how important it is for parents to be empowered to give their children the best possible chance to succeed,” said MP Sahota. “That is why our government continues to make families a priority by providing more money for children. During the last election, our Government committed to increasing the CCB by 15% for children under the age of one, this will begin in summer 2020 and give families up to $1,000 more each year.”
