Traffic Stop Results in Arrest of Repeat Offender with Loaded Firearm and Drug Offences

The Voice of Canada: Officers from 22 Division Uniform Patrol located a loaded firearm and charged a man with numerous firearm and drug-related charges after conducting a traffic stop in Brampton. 

On Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 12:40 a.m., patrol officers conducted a traffic stop with the assistance of the Regional Breathalyzer Unit and 22 CIB in the area of Bartley Bull Parkway and Main Street in Brampton. 

During the investigation, a loaded Glock 9 firearm was seized along with a quantity of drugs. 

Devonte Rowe, a 28-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon 
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possess firearm with altered serial number
  • Possession of Firearm, etc. Contrary to Order x2
  • Possession for the Purpose – Opioid x2
  • Possession for the Purpose

He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

“Devonte Rowe is a violent repeat high-risk offender who was just released on full parole in September 2023 and is already committing criminal acts that endanger members of our community. In 2015, he was charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault, including aggravated assault on a Peel Regional Police officer. These egregious acts of violence will not be tolerated. Our officers work relentlessly to keep our community safe and are commitment to ensuring that those responsible for these heinous criminal acts are held accountable,” said Nishan Duraiappah, Chief of Peel Regional Police.
