Peel Regional Police – Traffic Stop Results in Loaded Firearm

Region of Peel -Officers from 12 Division Uniform Patrol located a loaded firearm and laid numerous firearm-related charges after conducting a traffic stop in Mississauga.
On Monday, October 9, 2023, at 2:37 a.m., patrol officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Mid-Way Boulevard and Invader Crescent in the City of Mississauga.
During the investigation the driver was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm.
As a result, Gideon Bonsu, a 30-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possess a Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing There is a Firearm
- Carry Concealed Weapon
- Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order
He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
