Peel Regional Police – Youth Arrested in Attempt Murder Investigation

Region of Peel – Investigators from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged a 16-year-old youth concerning a stabbing incident in the City of Brampton.
On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, uniform officers responded to a stabbing incident in a mall near Queen Street and Dixie Road in Brampton. Police attended and located a youth with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a trauma centre where his injuries were considered serious yet non-life threatening. It is alleged that there was an altercation between the suspect and the victim before the stabbing. The suspect and the victim are known to each other. The suspect fled the area.
On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, a criminal code search warrant was executed at a residence in Brampton, and the 16-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder.
He was held pending a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged in this investigation are protected.
