Rana Sodhi calls on Chancellor Loughborough University & Olympic Champion Lord Sebastian Coe

The Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Punjab, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi called upon 2 time Olympic Gold winner athlete and renowned Sports Administrator Lord Sebastian Coe at the House of Lords in London. The meeting saw detailed discussions taking place regarding various administrative issues and technicalities related to the proposed Sports University at Patiala. Lord Coe on his part assured the minister of every possible assistance from his end for establishing as well as efficient running of the university.

During the meeting with Lord Coe who is the Chancellor of Loughborough University a prominent institution in the sports field, the minister discussed the infrastructural matters and sports science subjects in a comprehensive manner. The matters which came up for discussion included Appointment of Coaches having expertise in Sports Science subjects, Training players with regard to refrain and recovery from injuries during the course of their careers, Maintaining fitness levels of players through innovative coaching techniques and preparing coaches and the players from psychological point of view for world level competitions.

Rana Sodhi further disclosed that the Chief Minister, Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh has decided to set up a Sports University in Patiala in order to make the State regain its numero uno spot in sporting arena and sports science also. It is in keeping with the objective to make the project a success that he (Rana Sodhi) is meeting experts in administrative and sports science in order to ascertain their views. He said that the experience he got from this immensely successful meeting would be a milestone in the establishing of the university.
