Second Arrest Made Following Armed Robbery Spree in Brampton
The Voice of Canada – Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau charged a second young person in connection to a series of four armed convenience store robberies in the Region of Peel.
It is alleged that over a 24-hour period beginning in the early morning hours of March 16, 2023, both suspects and another unidentified person attended four convenience stores in the Region of Peel and robbed them at gunpoint. The suspects targeted currency, jewellery and other items in these robberies. The victims sustained no physical injuries during these armed robberies.
On March 16, 2023 at approximately 4:00 a.m., following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Brampton, police identified and charged a 15-year-old youth from Brampton with Robbery, Wearing a Disguise and Using an Imitation Firearm.
Following a lengthy investigation, on May 11, 2023, a second young person was identified who is also believed to be responsible for the robberies. Police executed a search warrant at a Brampton address where the suspect was arrested and property related to the offences was recovered. An imitation firearm used during the robberies was seized during the initial search warrant in March 2023.
A 17-year-old male youth from Brampton, has been charged with the following Criminal Code Offences:
- Robbery X 4
- Wearing a Disguise with Intent X 4
- Using an Imitation Firearm x 4
The young person appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for a bail hearing. This is an ongoing investigation, and investigators anticipate they may lay further charges.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.
