State Level NCORD Meeting Held in UT Chandigarh Secretariat

8th State level NCORD meeting was held in UT Chandigarh Secretariat under the chairmanship of Rajeev Verma, Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh. This meeting aims to contribute towards achieving the goal of a Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug Free India).
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary reviewed the Action taken Report of the last State level NCORD meeting. Details of persons arrested, seizures and drugs disposal for the last three years were also presented.
The Chief Secretary stressed upon the need for sensitization of staff of courier companies and Aggregator Apps such as Ola, Uber, Rapido. He directed that more specialized & awareness sessions be conducted on drug trafficking prevention for such service providers. Further, the Chief Secretary directed the officials to effectively use Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PITNDPS Act) and also to seize, freeze and forfeit the property acquired by the drug traffickers from drug trafficking under NDPS Act.
The Chief Secretary emphasized for enhancing awareness of MANAS Portal, so that maximum people should use MANAS Portal on the National Toll-Free Number 1933 and email address – Info.ncbmanas@gov.in. Also, various other activities such as marathons, cyclothons, flash mobs and rallies etc. shall be organized in the city from time to time, to spread anti-drugs message among the masses. He further directed that the entire network of the drugpeddlers be dismantled, and that the investigation continue even after the filing of the charge-sheet in order to completely dismantle the network.

Chagti, Secretary Social Welfare, along with other senior officials of Chandigarh Administration.
