Hailing from Leicester, England, Romail is the Founder of the Toronto Curry Awards and Pukaar News. This prestigious food award began in Leicester, England and has branched out internationally in search of the best in South Asian cuisine.
The categories for the awards include Best Retro Bar, Best Takeaway, Best Vegetarian Restaurant, Best New Restaurant, Best Fine Dining Restaurant and Restaurant of the Year. Founder and President, Romail Gulzar said: “The Curry Awards are all about spotlighting the fantastic South Asian restaurants and take outs in the city and this year you really won’t want to miss out.”
The organization gives back to the community with past support extended to organizations such as the SickKids Foundation and The Mississauga Food Bank. This year, the charity they have chosen to support is Cancer Warriors Foundation, a group of inspired individuals who help to create awareness about cancer. Both Cancer Warriors and the Toronto Curry Awards are organizations who strongly believe in giving back to the community.
Toronto is the perfect city to have this event as the city is diverse and caters to a very large population who love South Asian cuisine.
