UTCA Organises Blood Donation Camp; Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator Calls it an Act of Patriotism

In an expression of solidarity and service to the nation the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) organised a blood donation camp today at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, Chandigarh. The camp was held in collaboration with the Blood Bank, PGIMER and the Department of Blood Transfusion, GMCH-16.
The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He interacted with the blood donors and lauded their selfless spirit. Addressing the gathering, Kataria stated, “At a time when our brave soldiers stand guard at the nation’s borders, it is the duty of every citizen to contribute in their own way. Donating blood is a noble and patriotic act that strengthens our medical response and can help save lives.”
He further announced that several more blood donation camps will be organised across Chandigarh on May 15, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation as a civic responsibility.
The blood donation camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from cricketers, sports officials, and citizens from various walks of life. The donors were felicitated with certificates and tokens of appreciation. The initiative was aimed at bolstering the national blood reserves and extending solidarity to the armed forces and those affected by current challenges.
Speaking on the occasion, UTCA President Sanjay Tandon expressed gratitude towards the participants, stating, “As a sports body, we believe our responsibility goes beyond the field. This blood donation drive is our humble tribute to the spirit of Bharat and a meaningful way of standing by our armed forces during these testing times.”
R.K. Singh, IG Chandigarh Police; Kanwardeep Kaur, SSP Chandigarh; Saurabh Arora, Director Sports, UT Chandigarh, was also present during the event.
