A Celebration for Every Generation
For thousands of Canadian families, Diwali represents much more than a festival.
It is a time to celebrate heritage, pass traditions from one generation to the next and create memories together.
The Festival of Lights gives children an opportunity to experience their cultural heritage while sharing it with friends, classmates and neighbours from different backgrounds. It is a powerful reflection of Canadian multiculturalism, where different cultures can celebrate their identities while coming together as one community.

The Meaning Behind the Lights
Diwali symbolizes the victory of good over evil and light over darkness.
At a time when communities around the world are looking for greater understanding and unity, the festival provides an opportunity to celebrate the values that connect us all — hope, kindness, family, community and togetherness.
