Bike rallies take out to generate awareness about the harmful effects of Drug abuse

 STF chief appeals parents to spend time with wards to allay problem of drug menace

Aiming to create awareness about the problem of drug abuse in Punjab, ‘Thumpers Café’ club in association with Special Task Force (STF) of Punjab Police organized a bike ride from Mohali to Chandigarh in commemoration of martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. This bike ride was flagged off by STF chief Gurpreet Kaur Deo, ADGP which culminated at Tagore theatre.

Speaking on the occasion STF chief appealed to the parents to more spend time with their children to allay the problem of drug menace. She exhorted the youth to lead a drug-free, healthy and happy life.

Disclosing this, a spokesperson of the STF said this bike rally was organised to create awareness among the society to quit drugs addiction under the slogan of Rang De Basanti- “A Ride For Drug Free India”. He informed that 500 riders of Thumpers Café, 20 riders of Punjab Police, 20 riders of STF and 4 riders from Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh took part in the rally. Such bike rides were also taken out simultaneously in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Moga and Nawanshaher cities.

He further stated that Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, the youth icons who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of the Nation, are an inspiration to free the society from the spectre of drugs. The bike ride was cheered throughout the route by the public and was appreciated for the positive message it conveyed to the youth and the society.
