Brampton Residents Association Council (BRAC) refreshed its team with more dedicated community leaders and organised its Second Oath Ceremony which took place recently at 52nd Street Tap & Grill, Brampton. The event was truly exceptional, and very well organised. BRAC received positive feedback from numerous members of its community.

During the Oath Ceremony, BRAC held its first council meeting of 2023, chaired by President Mr. Kurian Prakkanam. President Kurian announced the cabinet members for 2023. which included Ms. Annette Wielgus appointed as the General Secretary of BRAC for the year 2023, Mr. Sam Basra as the Vice President, and Mr. Ketan Desai was appointed as the Secretary and Public Relations Officer (PRO). 

The BRAC Council unanimously passed a resolution to secure an office space for the organization’s functions, recognizing the need for a dedicated space to facilitate its operations effectively. We are in the process of appointing more leaders to the cabinet in the near future. I urge all leaders to collaborate harmoniously and uphold the discipline of our organization as we embark on this remarkable journey together, Kurian quoted.

President Kurian extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected Community Parliament Members and Community Council Members. Furthermore, he expressed special thanks to Ms. Sukhbir Singh for arranging the venue 52nd Street Tap & Bar and its management for their warm hospitality and professional service during the event.He further stated that the presence of esteemed guests at the event, despite their busy schedules, was an honor for BRAC. Each guest expressed deep appreciation for the significance of BRAC in the City of Brampton and the valuable support it provides to its residents.He said we were privileged to have council members of Mayor Patrick Brown office in attendance.

The unity and collaboration demonstrated during the event were truly commendable. It is essential for our community to work together, with BRAC serving as the umbrella organization, fostering a unified voice, vision, and team.

This event not only marked a vibrant occasion but also signified a significant milestone for the organization, as it officially launched the New Year for BRAC in 2023. Most importantly, it showcased its unwavering commitment to our community, leaving a lasting impression and empowering us all.

The strength of BRAC within the city and among its residents was on full display. The President urged all its leaders to remain actively engaged and committed to our community through their actions and efforts. At BRAC, we request your support in identifying and welcoming capable individuals who share our vision.

To ensure the effectiveness of our platform and the betterment of Brampton and our community, let us refrain from seeking personal gains or promoting individual interests. Instead, let us unite in supporting one another, for the greater interests of Brampton.

BRAC’s growth and success is attributed to each of you and your generous contributions. Let us continue to uphold the spirit of BRAC, driven by our shared vision, unity, and teamwork. Brampton Residents Association is an umbrella organization encompassing all community groups in Brampton, representing the strength and diversity of our residents.

Kurian extended its sincere appreciation to Hon. Gurbax Singh Malhi for inaugurating the BRAC 2023 function by cutting the ribbon. We would also like to thank Deputy Mayor Harkirat Singh and Councilors Rod Power and Navjit Kaur for their presence at the Inaugural function of the BRAC team for 2023.

He expressed his sincere appreciation to Mayor Patrick Brown for his exceptional leadership in Brampton city. He also extended his gratitude to Minister Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria, Amarjot Sandhu MPP, Hardeep Grewal MPP, and all other MPPs and MPs of Brampton for their invaluable support.

Ms. Annette, the General Secretary, conveyed her heartfelt thanks to all those who attended the function, recognizing their presence as a testament to their commitment to the organization and the community.

Vice President Sam Basara proceeded to provide a detailed overview of the organizational structure, highlighting its key components and emphasizing the importance of each role within the framework.

Lastly, Mr. Ketan Desai, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), delivered the Vote of Thanks. He expressed sincere appreciation to all the individuals and entities involved in making the event a success. He acknowledged the efforts of the organizing committee, the volunteers, and the venue staff for their hard work and professionalism. He also extended gratitude to the media, sponsors, and community members for their continuous support as their contributions played a significant role in ensuring the smooth execution of the function and the advancement of BRAC’s mission and vision.

BRAC holds a significant position within the Brampton community, representing the values of unity and inclusivity. As an organization, BRAC stands for the harmonious integration of all communities, promoting the notion of “One Brampton” and fostering a sense of belonging among its residents. The unique strength of BRAC lies in its ability to bring together diverse communities and guide them as a cohesive team.

The leaders of BRAC have established strong connections with various communities in Brampton, allowing for effective communication and collaboration. However, there are still numerous communities eagerly waiting to be represented within BRAC. Ms. Annette, the General Secretary, highlighted the importance of uniting these communities and leading them collectively, emphasizing the art of inclusive leadership.

Vice President Mr. Sam Basara emphasized that BRAC has already expanded its reach to encompass a wide range of communities. The BRAC assembly comprises community leaders, reflecting the organization’s commitment to community representation. Additionally, the Community Parliament serves as the secondary level of leadership within BRAC, while the Community Council holds the highest authority.

Mr. Ketan, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), further emphasized the significance of the Community Council as the governing body of BRAC. Their role is crucial in ensuring effective representation and decision-making processes within the organization.

Through these various levels of leadership and the inclusion of community representatives, BRAC strives to create an environment where all voices are heard, fostering a strong sense of community engagement and participation.
