Brampton to get a major cultural makeover with a unique event that brings art and tech together

The Voice of Canada News

Flower City residents are in for a treat as a one-of-a-kind event, Meta Brampton, is all set to shake up the arts and culture scene in the city. The event takes place on Saturday, September 22nd at the Den at Sheridan College (Davis Campus – 7899 McLaughlin Rd, Brampton, ON L6Y 5H9), and will begin at 7:30pm. Event curator, Nav Nanwa is excited about the possibilities of this new venture and hopes that meta will provide a platform for exciting new artistes-visual and performing alike- and offer up a unique experience to culture lovers. “Meta Brampton is a celebration of art and the advancements moving it forward. People are surrounded by new technology that is pushing the limits and allowing artists to express themselves in ways we never seen or heard before. This has resulted in a digital world where individuals are constantly connected and always seeking what’s ‘new’ with experiences playing a huge role in that,” he says.

Aiming to capture the variations of digital art all in one place the event will feature an eclectic group of artists and will be headlined by Electronic fusion group kLoX. The group which consists of Gurpreet Chana, aka “the Tabla Guy” and Classical Violinist Robert Mason explores the vast reaches of dance floor oriented electronic music by bringing together their classical instrumentals, respectively; and integrating it with computer aided performance technology, to create uniquely engineered rhythmic patterns, beats, and sonically explosive soundscapes.

Other performers include rapper Haviah Mighty who will showcase a special DJ set, vocalist, producer and DJ – Sikh Knowledge and Diana Reyes a.k.a Fly Lady Di among others.

A special showcase featuring digital art and photography by local artists from the community will be presented through a special partnership with Beaux-Arts Brampton. Photography enthusiasts will have an opportunity to show their city some love through Bramp LENS – a digital photo contest, open to all ages and levels of experience.

Plus, get ready to navigate the VR world with Ctrl V- Brampton’s first and largest virtual reality arcade chain, who will take enthusiasts of all skill levels through an unforgettable demo experience at the event.

META Brampton is organized by ACISA (Arts and Culture Initiative of South Asia) in Partnership with Surmun and is supported by the City of Brampton through the community grant program.
