City of Brampton launches 2024 Seasonal Patio Program; local businesses invited to apply
The Voice of Canada News: As the warm weather season approaches, the City of Brampton is launching its 2024 Seasonal Patio Program. Beginning March 1, local businesses are invited to submit applications to receive a permit for a temporary seasonal patio.
The Seasonal Patio Program aims to support local economic growth and foster a more vibrant community. By providing local businesses with the opportunity to extend outdoor, Brampton’s restaurants, bars and cafes can enhance their spaces and attract more patrons to help their businesses thrive.
This year, Temporary Outdoor Patio Expansions By-law 103-2020 was amended to allow temporary extensions to create or extend outdoor spaces for businesses with or without a liquor licence. In 2024, businesses with approved permits can operate their patios from April 6 until midnight on October 26. Following the end of this year’s patio season, businesses will have until November 2, 2024, to remove patios and temporary structures, ensuring the safe and efficient use of public spaces.
The City of Brampton is committed to creating dynamic public spaces catering to the diverse needs of residents and visitors alike. Since 2020, Brampton’s Seasonal Patio Program has created approximately 80 temporary seasonal patios across the city. The City looks forward to working with local businesses to continue to create more vibrant outdoor spaces this patio season.
How to apply
The City of Brampton has enhanced the Seasonal Patio Program application and is introducing a new online tool to create a faster and more streamlined process. To submit an application, visit www.brampton.ca/patio. An application fee of $100 is required. Other fees may be required for additional permits and/or inspections. While this program is geared toward temporary, seasonal patios, businesses can continue to request a permanent outdoor patio area or structure through the City’s Building and Development Services division.
