FIFTEEN WOMEN TO RECEIVE ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS AT INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY EVENT 2019

The Voice of Canada:

Fifteen women will receive the “Award of Achievement” as part of the annual Celebrating Womanhood Gala event being organized by the Indo-Canadian Arts and Culture Initiative and GTA Northwest Community Health Services Inc. on Friday, March 8, 2019 in Brampton.

“CELEBRATING WOMANHOOD” is a gala event to inspire, honor and applaud some fabulous women. This evening is an attempt to recognize the work and contribution of diverse Canadian women and honour them.

The award ceremony will honour 15 women achievers from different walks of life, who have contributed to the society while achieving professional success.

This year, ICACI and GTA Northwest Community Health services Inc. will recognize the achievements in the following categories:

Woman Humanitarian Award
Woman Achiever Award
Woman Hero Award
Woman Act of Excellence Award
Woman Professional Excellence Award
Woman Leadership award
Woman Media Excellence Award
Woman Entrepreneur Award
Woman Academic Excellence Award
Woman Athletic Excellence Award
Most Influential Woman Award.
Woman Police Peacekeeper Award.
Woman Broadcasting Excellence Award.
Woman Diversity Award
Young Achiever Award-

The celebration will be an opportunity to highlight women from different ethnic and multicultural communities in GTA. We hope to collaborate and to further bring awareness and promote the different services available in the city for the women in our community. We hope to expect over 500 attendees for this one-night celebration with people from all backgrounds with food, performances, fashion and entertainment to show Canada’s diversity.

This year’s event is planned along similar lines and will have some inspiring traditional South Asian performances, fashion show, a great networking opportunity with eminent speakers and an Awards ceremony honoring “Woman of Achievement” from different fields. We have invited many prominent personalities from the GTA- MPs, MPPs, Mayor of Brampton and Councilors including media and other prominent personalities of Brampton.

Mokshi Virk is a well-known community leader in Brampton. As the founder-director of ICACI (Indo-Canadian Arts and Cultural Initiative), she has been organizing the Celebrating Womanhood Gala and Awards Night for the past six years, giving Woman Hero awards to members of the community who in their own way have contributed to social development and philanthropic activities within the community.

Mokshi is an active voice on women’s issues. She works tirelessly for the community using her time and network to help residents and newcomers in the city of Brampton. She is the recipient of numerous community awards and was most recently awarded the Inspiration award by the City of Brampton.

She is an ardent supporter and tireless advocate who believes persistence and perseverance are the keys to success.
