For the first time, Netflix India’s Sacred Games is nominated for International Emmy Award2019 in the Drama Category. The crime thriller is directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane.

Montalvo Arts Center and Art Forum SF in collaboration with UC Berkeley Institute for South Asia Studies brings to you aspecial event featuring Anurag Kashyap and Vikram Chandra (Skye) in conversation with Tipu Purukayastha on Friday, October 18 from 7:30pm to 9:30 pm, at the Carriage House Theatre in Montalvo Arts Center, 15400 Montalvo Road, Saratoga CA.

Vikram Chandra, award-winning author of the crime novel Sacred Games – which is adapted into a hit Netflix original series in India – will discuss the journey of taking a book to the screen with director Anurag Kashyap. This insightful conversation will touch on topics of Chandra’s inspiration, the challenges of adapting a book into a series, and the vision needed in order to bring a story to life.

Anurag Kashyap‘s prominence increased with the two-part crime drama, Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), The Lunchbox (2013), Shahid (2013), Bombay Talkies (2013), Ugly (2014), Raman Raghav 2.0, Mukkabaaz (2018), and Manmarziyaan (2018). He was the co-founder of two film production companies: Anurag Kashyap Films and Phantom Films.

Last part of the South Asian Literature & Art (SALA) Festival, this is a rare opportunity to hear two of the creative minds behind this cultural phenomenon discuss their work.
