We are incredibly proud to announce that Kurian Prakkanam, President of both the Brampton Malayalee Samajam and the National Federation of Canada, as well as the driving force and visionary behind the renowned Brampton Boat Race, has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

Kurian Prakkanam’s unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting Malayalee heritage, while fostering unity through cultural celebrations, has left a lasting impact on the community. Under his leadership, the Brampton Boat Race has flourished into a landmark multicultural event, attracting thousands of participants and spectators in a grand celebration of tradition, teamwork, and cultural pride. His vision has transformed it into one of the most anticipated community events in the region.
At a time when many awards are sought through money or influence, this medal stands as a testament to his genuine impact—one earned through passion, perseverance, and selfless service.
Kurian Prakkanam was originally scheduled to receive this esteemed recognition from Her Excellency the Right Honourable Governor General of Canada on March 6, 2025. However, as he is currently not in Canada, he will be presented with the medal at a later date.
To celebrate this historic achievement, we are planning a grand award ceremony that will coincide with the Brampton Boat Race celebrations. This special event will bring together community leaders, dignitaries, and well-wishers to honour Kurian Prakkanam and acknowledge his invaluable contributions.
