The Voice of Canada news| French president Emmanuel Macron announced that he is pretty confident that the U.S will rejoin the Paris climate deal. His appeal: “Let us work together in order to make our planet great again and create new jobs and opportunities while safeguarding our earth”. Because of Earth’s climate continues to warm”, there is no planet B”.
Trump’s signature campaign pledge in 2016 was to “make America great again” and he canceled any U.S involvement in the climate deal as according to him, his focus was on American jobs.
Macron’s main aim was to urge the U.S to reject fear and isolationism and instead to and to embrace the historic bond between the two nations and their ability to launch a new era of 21st-century leadership and security.
As Macron spoke directly to Trump, he also spoke to him about major issues of Syria, free trade, Iran nuclear deal and Paris accord on climate change—topics where Trump disagreed as he encouraged the U.S not to deviate from its historic role in the world. He further added that “we have two possible ways ahead. We can choose isolationism, withdrawal, and nationalism. It can be tempting to us as a temporary remedy to our fears, but closing the door to the world will not stop the evolution of the world.”
“New breed of militarism” was proposed by him and his proposal suggested it to be more effective, accountable, efficient, and result oriented. He also said that “This requires more than ever the United States involvement”. During the speech, he even encouraged a friendly approach with Trump to create an atmosphere of friendliness between the two countries and to eradicate their differences. The meeting continued in a very cordial manner, with Trump even wiping dandruff from Macron’s shoulder, stating that it was a sign of “a very special relationship”.
Apart from the climate deal, he talked about the “Iran nuclear deal and said as for Iran, “our objective is clear: Iran shall never possess any nuclear weapons”. He had a different viewpoint about the Iran nuclear accord which went totally against Trump.
It was for the first time that the President of France had addressed Congress in more than a decade.
