Peel Police Service Board Welcomes New Members, Carolyn Parrish and Omar Khan

The Peel Police Service Board today announced the appointments of Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish and Peel Region resident Omar Khan as its newest members. Both individuals bring a wealth of experience, dedication, and passion for public service, which will greatly enhance the Board’s efforts to ensure effective oversight and governance for Peel Regional Police.

Carolyn Parrish, currently serving as Mayor of Mississauga, has an extensive and distinguished career in public service. She has held roles at both the municipal and federal levels, including tenures as a City Councillor for the City of Mississauga and the Region of Peel, representing Wards 5 and 6. Additionally, she has served as a Trustee and Chair of the Peel District School Board, and as a Member of Parliament. Her roles in Parliament included Parliamentary Secretary positions in Immigration, Public Works, and Government Services. Parrish holds a Bachelor of Education from the Ontario College of Education, University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto.

“I am pleased to join the Peel Police Service Board on behalf of the residents of Mississauga,” said Mayor Parrish. “My goal is to ensure that our police services are both effective and responsive to the needs of our diverse community. I look forward to working with my fellow Board members to enhance public safety and trust.”

Omar Khan, a lifelong resident of Peel Region, is a passionate advocate for community safety and well-being. With over 25 years of experience in the construction and manufacturing industries, Khan has demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality and innovation. His professional expertise in sales and marketing complements his dedication to community service. Khan is an active supporter of children’s charities, including Children’s Make a Wish and Friends of the Orphans Canada, and he advocates for mental health awareness to reduce stigma and promote community well-being.

“It is a privilege to serve my community on the Peel Police Service Board, and work towards ensuring that our police services meet the highest standards of excellence and accountability,” stated Khan. “I am committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all residents.”

With their extensive backgrounds and strong commitment to public service, both Carolyn Parrish and Omar Khan are poised to make significant contributions to the Board’s mission of ensuring adequate and effective policing in Peel.
