Peel Regional Police – Arrest Made in a Kidnapping Investigation

Region of Peel – Investigators from 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested and charged an individual following a kidnapping investigation in Brampton.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, the victim was confronted by a male suspect posing as law enforcement official in the area of Bovaird Drive and Airport Road in Brampton. The suspect inquired about the victim’s immigration status demanded appropriate documentation and threatened arrest. The victim was then escorted to her residence to gather her documentation, where the suspect told her family that she would need to go to the police station and money would be required for her release. When the suspect left the home with the victim, the family contacted police.  A short time later, police located both the suspect and the victim who was found safe and in good health.    

As a result of this investigation, Manjinder Kalra, a 32-year-old man from Brampton was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Kidnapping
  • Personating a Peace Officer
  • Fraud x4
  • Theft

Kalra was held in custody for bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
