Peel Regional Police – Arrest Warrant Leads to Seized Firearm

Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Specialized Enforcement Bureau have seized a loaded firearm in relation to an arrest in the City of Toronto.
Investigators received information about a suspect wanted for failing to comply with a court order in relation to a firearm, robbery, and prostitution charges.
On Friday, October 23, 2020, at approximately 3:15 p.m., investigators located the suspect in the area of Church Street and Bloor Street in the City of Toronto. Shaimar Stanberry, a 24-year-old man from Toronto, was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant.
During a vehicle search, police located a loaded Glock pistol.
Shaimar Stanberry was charged with the following:
- Fail to Comply with Court Order
- Knowledge of Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
He was held for a Bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on October 23, 2020.
A second male associated with the vehicle fled on foot, and investigators seek assistance from anyone that may help identify this unknown suspect. He is described as a black male, 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black and white hooded sweater.
