Peel Regional Police – Officer Charged With Criminal Offences
The Voice of Canada News:
Region of Peel – As a result of a fourteen-month investigation, investigators from Peel Regional Police Professional Standards Bureau arrested and charged Constable Michael Konwerski, an 8-year-member of the service with several criminal offences.
On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, Constable Michael Konwerski was charged with three counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device, three counts of Careless Storage of a Prohibited Device and one count of Careless Storage of Ammunition.
In September 2019, the Peel Regional Police Professional Standards Bureau received an internal complaint alleging that after his shift, the officer reported off duty leaving behind three prohibited firearm magazines loaded with ammunition in the trunk of the police cruiser that he was operating. These items were not issued by the service.
Cst. Konwerski is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on January 4, 2021. Once the criminal court proceedings have been completed, a Police Services Act investigation will follow.
