Peel Regional Police – Stolen Vehicle From a Warm-Up Theft Rams Two Cruisers

Region of Peel – Uniform officers and investigators from 12 Division arrested and charged two men in connection with a stolen vehicle that rammed two police cruisers in the City of Mississauga.
Just after 12:00 a.m., on Sunday, January 3, 2021, officers were attempting to investigate a vehicle in the area of Britannia Road East and Dixie Road in the City of Mississauga. The vehicle proceeded to ram two police cruisers before it fled the area.
Officers located the vehicle and with the assistance of the Peel Regional Police K9 unit, the driver was located and taken into custody. A second man was also taken into custody at the scene of the collision. There were no injuries sustained to the officers, suspects or members of the public as a result of the collision.
The stolen vehicle involved in this incident had originally been stolen from a residence in Brampton on December 1, 2020. The vehicle had been left in the driveway to warm up.
The driver, Ikjot Singh, a 21-year-old man from Brampton was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Flight From Peace Officer, Dangerous Operation, Failure to Stop After Accident, Operation While Impaired by Drugs.
Jasdeep Singh, a 23-year-old man from Brampton was charged with two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
They were both held for bail hearings and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Sunday, January 3, 2020.
Peel Regional Police continue to remind the public to practice the following safety measures when warming up your vehicle:
- Avoid leaving a running vehicle unattended
- Ensure you always lock car doors and roll up your windows
- Consider using anti-theft devices
- Remember to lock your garage door
