Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Navratri

Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Navratri: 

“Hindus across Canada, India, and the world begin celebrating the festival of Navratri.

“For the next nine days, Hindus will honour the goddess Durga – the Divine Mother – celebrating her for the many virtues she exemplified.

“For millions of people around the world, the enduring stories of Durga’s humility and her triumphant victory over the forces of evil bring comfort and hope amidst hard times. 

“As celebrations unfold across Canada, the diversity of Hindu culture will be put on full display. While the traditions and festivities take many forms, the spirit of Navratri brings unity to all Hindus who are joined together in faith.

“As Hindus here in Canada celebrate, we are encouraged by the incredible richness that the Hindu community has brought to our country. We are reminded of the blessings we receive when people have the freedom to celebrate their heritage and honour their traditions in all their vibrant beauty.

“On behalf of Canada’s Common-Sense Conservatives, my best wishes to Hindus everywhere as you are drawn closer to your friends and family during this special time of year. May the next nine days be full of joy and hope as you celebrate with our community.
