Premier crosses the pond to attract investment
Premier Jason Kenney is heading to the U.K. to highlight the world-leading environmental, social and governance standards of Alberta’s responsible energy sector
The Voice of Canada News
During his Dec. 16-18 mission to London, the Premier will make the case that investing in Alberta’s energy sector is the best choice to meet global energy demands.
Premier Kenney will speak with international business leaders and financial institutions to reassert investment confidence in Alberta’s economy and underscore the province’s reputation as one of the world’s most stable, secure and environmentally responsible energy suppliers.
“One of the greatest challenges facing our largest industry is access to capital, particularly in European markets. That’s why it’s critically important to tell Alberta’s story, partly in response to the campaign that has pushed for a ban on investment in our oil sands.” – Jason Kenney, Premier
The Premier will show how the province is building a strong, competitive foundation for energy sector investments by:
Reducing the taxes on job creators and cutting red tape by one-third.
Introducing enhanced capital cost allowances.
Providing certainty to the oil and gas royalty structure.
Continuing to take meaningful action on climate change in a way that makes sense for Alberta’s economy.
“One of our key platform commitments to get Alberta back to work was to restore global investor confidence to our province. London is the global financial capital, so it’s critical that we engage directly with financial leaders there who make decisions that affect our economy here at home.”-Jason Kenney, Premier
Premier Kenney will meet with Bank of England Governor and recently appointed UN Envoy on Climate Change Mark Carney, Canada’s High Commissioner, Janice Charette, global banks, hedge funds and private equity firms with energy exposure to show how the province is building a strong, competitive foundation for investment.
The estimated cost of the mission for the Premier, Special Advisor David Knight Legg and a security detail is $34,000.
