Sacred Heart Sr. Sec. School marked its Institute Day with a heartfelt and reverent special assembly celebrating the life and legacy of Venerable Mother Seraphina, founder of the Congregation of the Clarist Franciscan Missionaries of the Most Blessed Sacrament (CFMSS). The event opened the week-long Institute Week celebrations, underscoring the institution’s values rooted in service, education, and faith.

The assembly commenced with an insightful introduction on the life of Mother Seraphina, highlighting her pioneering vision, spiritual strength, and unwavering commitment to her faith, values, education and social welfare. This was followed by the solemn recitation of the Lord’s Prayer and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the School Manager, Sister Anupa, and the Principal, Rev. Sr. Venita Joseph, symbolizing the light of knowledge and guidance.

In a moving tribute, the portrait of Mother Seraphina was carried in procession and respectfully placed on the altar by the school’s leadership. Representatives from various sections of the school community came forward to offer flowers, paying homage to the founder’s enduring spirit and values.

The stage then came alive with a presentation of Mother Seraphina’s golden words, shared as inspiring quotes, followed by a dramatic enactment depicting key moments of her life—from the challenges she faced to the vision she fulfilled.

In her address, Rev. Sr. Venita Joseph delivered a deeply inspiring message, portraying Mother Seraphina as not just a historical figure, but a timeless beacon of courage, compassion, and vision. She emphasized that Mother Seraphina was a woman far ahead of her era—someone who recognized the silent cries of her time and responded with firm actions rooted in love and service.

Sr. Venita urged students to see in Mother Seraphina a powerful role model for the 21st century—a world marked by rapid change, uncertainty, and widening social disparities. She drew parallels between the challenges of Seraphina’s time and those faced today: inequality, lack of access to education and healthcare, and a growing need for empathy in leadership. “Mother Seraphina teaches us,” she said, “that change does not begin with grand gestures, but with small acts of courage—standing up for what is right, extending a hand to someone in need, speaking truth with kindness.”

Highlighting the founderess’s contributions not just in education, but in health care and social reform, Sr. Venita reminded students that the legacy of CFMSS is one of active hope—a belief that faith must be lived through action. In a world where technology connects us yet empathy is often lost, Mother Seraphina’s life offers a model of integrated service, where intellect, faith, and compassion work hand in hand to uplift society.

She concluded with a powerful call to the students: “Let Mother Seraphina’s life ignite a fire within you—not just to succeed, but to serve. Let her resilience remind you that obstacles are opportunities in disguise. And above all, let her legacy inspire you to be leaders of hope in your homes, your schools, and the world beyond.”

The assembly concluded with a rousing rendition of the Institute Song by the school choir, filling the campus with a sense of pride and unity.

As part of the ongoing Institute Week, Sacred Heart Sr. Sec. School has planned a variety of activities, including inter-house and inter- school competitions, cultural events, and special assemblies to commemorate Labour Day and Mother’s Day—emphasizing gratitude, community spirit, and family values.

The celebrations reflect the school’s deep-rooted mission to nurture responsible citizens who are intellectually equipped, spiritually grounded, and socially committed—just as Mother Seraphina envisioned.
