Statement by Premier Doug Ford on Hanukkah

Premier Doug Ford issued the following statement to mark the beginning of Hanukkah:

The Jewish community in Ontario and around the world will light the first candle on the menorah as part of the yearly eight-day Festival of Lights.

Hanukkah is the Jewish celebration of victory over persecution and oppression, courage over fear, and light over darkness. It’s a reminder of daily miracles, small and great, and how fortunate we are to live in a province and a country where the religious and cultural beliefs and practices of people from all walks of life are protected and defended.

On behalf of my family and the Government of Ontario, I wish those celebrating a peaceful, happy and healthy holiday. Chag Hanukkah sameach!”
