Toronto attacker leaves a cryptic Facebook message called the “incels”

The Voice of Canada news| A cryptic message posted on Facebook moments before the attacker took to the streets brought attention to the underground culture—the “incels”.

The message was allegedly posted by the attacker, Alex Minassian. According to police, the victims are predominantly female, but there is not enough evidence that the women were being targeted.

Minassian’s post reads in full: “Private Minassian Infantry 0010, wishing to speak to Sgt. 4chan, please. C23239169. The Incel Rebellion has already begun! We will overthrow all the Chads and Stacys! All hail the Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger!”

Facebook confirmed that the account was real, the police confirmed that the message was posted shortly before the attack began. The message was removed by Facebook right after the attack. In his message, “private” referred to the two months he spent with the Canadian Forces last fall. He completed 16 days of recruit training, 00010 is a Canadian Forces code for the infantry, C23249161 could be a service number—before he decided to quit the army. Rets of the message was made up of the language used by the incel movement
