TOURISM AUTHORITY OF THAILAND UPDATES CORONAVIRUS  SITUATION

The Voice of Chandigarh/Canada News

Tourism Authority of Thailand, India Offices would like to update you on the situation and measures taken by the Thai Government to keep Thailand free from novel Coronavirus COVID-19 virus in Thailand.

TAT would like to assure that Thailand’s effective health surveillance systems for disease control are being implemented at all ports in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea as part of the nationwide Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) prevention.

In addition to the surveillance protocol by fever screening of air passengers and crew members at airports across the country, the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health has expanded the screening protocol to cover cruise passengers and crew members at five seaports (Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Chiang Saen, Phuket and Ko Samui).

The Ministry of Public Health has issued a recommendation to Thai hospitals nationwide to set up a dedicated “Fever and Acute Respiratory Infection Clinic” to enhance prevention and control for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Hospitals under the Ministry’s Department of Medical Services have been advised to set up a one-stop service clinic for the screening of fever and symptoms, providing medical care and getting results of the diagnostic test for COVID-19. The Clinic is to be assigned in a separate area to prevent contact with other regular patients.

An online self-screening for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been launched for people suspected of being infected with the virus.

The online self-screening is developed and monitored by the Ministry of Public Health, Chiang Mai University and the National Research Council of Thailand. It is based on the Ministry of Public Health’s strict health surveillance systems on disease control.

TAT would like to reiterate that:

• Thailand has effective health surveillance systems for disease control.

• The Thai public and private sectors across the nation have stepped up hygiene measures.

• Thailand’s tourism and travel activities go on as usual.
