Notification will be issued on December 4, 2020 for inviting nomination papers, while nomination papers can be filed from December 11 to 16, 2020.

Sharing more details in this regard, State Election Commissioner, Haryana, Dr. Dalip Singh stated in a press conference today that the General Elections of the seats of Mayor and Members of all the wards of Municipal Corporation, Ambala, Panchkula and Sonipat and President and Members of Municipal Council, Rewari, Municipal Committee, Sampla (Rohtak), Dharuhera (Rewari) and Ukalana (Hisar) will be held. Besides this, the Bye- elections of Ward No. 07 of Municipal Committee, Indri (Karnal), Ward No. 13 of Bhuna (Fatehabad), Ward No. 12 of Rajound (Kaithal), Ward No. 14 of Municipal Council, Fatehabad and Ward No. 29 of Municipal Council, Sirsa have also been notified. With this, the model code of conduct in respect of these municipal elections has come into force from December 3, 2020, itself.

He further shared that on December 4, 2020, concerned Returning officer will publish a notice for inviting nominations.  The nomination papers will be presented and posted from December 11 to 16, 2020 11.00 am to 03.00 pm, (except December 13, 2020 i.e Sunday). Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on December 17, 2020.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is December 18, 2020 between 11.00 Am and 3.00 Pm. The symbols will be allotted to the contesting candidates on December 18, 2020, after 3 Pm. The list of contesting candidates will be posted on December 18, 2020.  The list of polling stations will be posted on December 18, 2020.

Dr. Dalip further shared that the election will be held on December 27, 2020 from 8 am to 5.30 pm, in this in which the last one hour time that is from 4:30 to 5:30 pm has been fixed for the COVID-19 patients and those having virus symptoms to cast their vote. The Re-poll, if any will be held on December 29, 2020. He said that on December 30, 2020 the counting of votes will be done at 8 am and the results will be declared on the same day after counting.
