The Voice of Canada

Mayor Patrick Brown and City Council welcomed the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, and the Honourable Gregor Robertson, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, for the official national launch of the Build Communities Strong Fund, with the Embleton Community Centre and Park announced as the fund’s very first project.

“As Chair of Community Services, I’ve heard firsthand how important this centre is to residents. The Embleton Community Centre will be a welcoming, inclusive space where families, seniors, newcomers and youth can connect, stay active and access the programs and services they need. With modern recreational amenities and flexible community spaces, it will support active, healthy lifestyles and provide opportunities for residents of all ages to come together. This investment will enhance quality of life for residents and help ensure the facility truly reflects the needs of the community.”– Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor, Wards 1 and 5, Chair, Community Services

The $64 million federal investment marks a historic moment for the city and for southwest Brampton, a rapidly growing community where this much anticipated state-of-the-art recreational and community facility will serve residents of all ages for generations to come.

The federal contribution of $64 million complements $148 million in municipal funding already approved by Brampton City Council through the City’s budget.
